For many years, while in various administrative positions, I found myself organizing and arranging everything in sight—files, supplies, reference materials, furniture. The same thing
happened with words—creating manuals, procedures, forms, and checklists.
In one company, while working in my own position, I was also "lent out" as a consultant to set up filing systems in other departments. Later, when I discovered the field of professional organizing, I was amazed to find that a person could get paid to do what I did for the sheer pleasure of it! So, after further study and experience, I created “Respectful Organizing.”
In creating systems which reflect how people think and function, it is delightful to hear a client try out a new filing system, for instance, and exclaim in amazement, “This is actually fun!” I also love to hear the inevitable “I was looking for that!” as we unearth some long-lost valuable item, which once included a $100 bill—an example of organizing paying off in an unusual way!
It is a great privilege to be part of my client’s lives and hear what a difference the organizing process can bring…[read testimonials].
I chose the name “Respectful Organizing” to remind myself that I wish to honor each person’s unique style, needs, and greatness.
